Listening 1 • A New School
First listening: choose the best summary.
On Monday, I walked into my new school feeling nervous. The building was much bigger than my old school, and I didn't know anyone in my class. During the first lesson, our teacher explained the routines and introduced two student mentors. At lunch, one of them showed me the library and the sports hall. I still miss my old friends, but by the end of the day I felt much calmer. I think I can get used to this place.

4. Fair or Unfair?
Listen to four students. Decide whether each speaker supports the rule. Then compare with a partner.
Speaker 1: I actually like the phone rule. If my phone is on my desk, I check it without thinking, so keeping it away helps me focus. Speaker 2: I don't think everyone should have to join a club. Some students have responsibilities after school and simply don't have the time. Speaker 3: Not eating in class makes sense to me. The rooms stay cleaner, and we already have places to eat during breaks. Speaker 4: Students should help with events. When we organise something ourselves, school feels more like our community.
